Cincinnati officials are making safety plans as the trial of former UC police officer Ray Tensing begins later this month. 

He is charged with murder for the July 2015 death of Sam DuBose, who was shot during an off-campus traffic stop.

“This is not suicide by cop. It just isn’t.”

That’s the decision from Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters on the June shooting death of Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim by Trepierre Hummons. Deters says Hummons called 911 to lure police to his location and then began shooting.

After Kim was shot and killed next to his cruiser, Hummons was shot and killed by a second police officer who had arrived on the scene, Specialist Thomas Sandmann.

Cincinnati Police are continuing an investigation after an officer shot and killed a suspect Wednesday evening in Avondale. 

Channel 9 WCPO reported the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. at Reading Road and Burton Avenue.

Police were reportedly doing an undercover drug bust when they think the suspects caught on to the situation.  The suspects and the officer began to exchange gun fire.

Channel 9 reported officials said one suspect died and the other is recovering from non life-threatening injuries at University Hospital.
