UC signs NASA agreement, keeps Armstrong legacy alive

UPDATE:

At a media unveiling Wednesday UC researchers spelled out the specifics of the agreement with NASA. The Space Act Agreement, signed with NASA's Ames Research Center in California, clears the way for collaboration in four key areas:

  • Intelligent Systems and Structures (unmanned aerial vehicles)
  • Nanomedicine and Biomedicine
  • Environment and Sustainability
  • Analytics and Cyber Security

UC students will also have access to the Ames wind tunnel, the largest in the world.

Navy names ship after Neil Armstrong

The U.S. Navy is naming its newest research vessel after the late astronaut Neil Armstrong. The R/V Neil Armstrong is the first Armstrong-class Auxiliary General Oceanographic Research (AGOR) ship.

Armstrong to be buried at sea

A family spokeswoman confirms Neil Armstrong will be buried at sea. However she did not release details about the time and location.

A private service for the first man on the moon was held in Indian Hill last week. On September 13th the public will get a chance to remember Armstrong in Washington.  The 10a.m. service will be held at the Washington National Cathedral and will be broadcast on NASA television and streamed on the websites of the space agency and  the cathedral. Reservations  to attend the memorial are through NASA on a first-come basis.

 Hundreds of people remembered the first man on the moon today. Astronaut Neil Armstrong died nearly a week ago and his funeral was in Indian Hill.

UC begins search for next president

One week after President Gregory Williams' abrupt departure, the University of Cincinnati is moving forward with a search for its next leader.

The school's board of trustees voted Tuesday to begin the process of finding a new president.

Interim president Santa Ono is getting a raise to go with his new title. His salary is increasing to $369,000 with a $100,000 bonus. The university is also retiring the remainder of the mortgage on Ono's house ($172,963) in Atlanta.
