Hamilton County working on acquisition of former hospital

Hamilton County administrators are continuing the process to take over ownership of the former Mercy Mt. Airy hospital site.

Assistant County Administrator Jeff Aluotto says boundary, environmental and other surveys are nearly complete.

"We are looking to do this right," says Aluotto. "We're looking to do this in a measured way. In a prudent way. This is less from our perspective about what is out there in 2015 and 2016 and more about how we position this to be a strategic center for county government in 2020, 2025, 2030, moving out."

Board of Elections will move to Mt. Airy after 2016 election

The Hamilton County Board of Elections will move to a new site in Mt. Airy after the 2016 election, thanks to a tie-breaking vote cast Friday by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

On January 27, the Hamilton County Board of Elections split along party lines on whether to move to the former Mercy Mt. Airy Hospital site, recently acquired for free from Catholic Health Partners.

Crime lab going to Mt. Airy, with or without board of elections

The Hamilton County coroner will get a long-awaited and expanded crime lab after the Hamilton County commissioners today accepted a gift of the former Mercy Mt. Airy Hospital.

Whether or not the Hamilton County Board of Elections goes along to the Kipling Road building remains to be seen.

The commissioners had until the end of the month to decide whether or not to accept Catholic Health Partner’s offer of the 500,000 square foot building and the surrounding land.

Sec. of State: Try to reach compromise on BOE move

There were some heated discussions as people argued why the BOE should and should not be moved to Mt. Airy.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted is telling Republicans and Democrats on the Hamilton County Board of Elections to try to work out their differences on moving the board offices to Mt. Airy among themselves, before he casts a tie-breaking vote.

City targets Carthage and Mt. Airy for improvement

Carthage and Mt. Airy are the two newest communities targeted for Cincinnati's Neighborhood Enhancement Program (NEP). 

Beginning March 1, police, businesses and civic groups will work together on an accelerated revitalization and reinvestment plan.
