Update:  Cincinnati officials react:

Councilman P.G. Sittenfeld tweeted "Yes, it would have been nice to keep @Saks in the City, but I remain very bullish about Downtown. Our momentum will continue to snowball"

DCI President David Ginsberg says, while sad to lose Saks to Kenwood, the Race Street Corridor is undergoing a lot of change and he sees more development coming downtown.

The former troubled Kenwood Towne Place, now known as Kenwood Collection will open in the spring of 2015. As it takes shape, Sycamore Township is being proactive to prevent traffic problems.

You don't have to remind Township Board President Tom Weidman how backed up traffic can get in Kenwood around the holidays. He says, "From the first day after Thanksgiving to sometime in January we all have to coexist down there."

Developers of the newly named Kenwood Collection are in Las Vegas this week for the International Council of Shopping Center's Global Retail Real Estate Convention. There, David Birdsall, senior vice president of Strategic Investment Funds for Phillips Edison, hopes to find retailers for this new development.
