Ohio's 8th District Congressman and Speaker of the House, John Boehner had no competition last year, but in 2014 he will have Democratic opposition.  WVXU Political Reporter,  Howard Wilkinson talks with Maryanne Zeleznik about this new candidate.

And now he is about to try to climb one of the highest mountains in politics – running for the 8th Congressional District seat held by the Speaker of the House, John Boehner.

House Speaker John Boehner says the sooner the government starts addressing its fiscal problems, the sooner the economy will begin to improve.  Boehner spoke with employees of Vinylmax, a window manufacturer in Hamilton, during a tour of the company's plant Monday. 

He says investors and business people around the country are looking for some certainty about what Washington is going to do.

Being John Boehner has not been an easy thing to be lately.

The House Speaker, a West Chester Republican who has served in Congress for 22 years now, has had nothing but headaches for the past month.

Presidential candidate Mitt Romney chose the battleground state of Ohio and the City of Cincinnati as his first political stop after the Republican National Convention.

More than 3,000 people crammed into the Cincinnati Museum Center to hear a message of hope. Mitt Romney didn't disappoint them.

"America's going to come roaring back. A better future is ahead. It's out there waiting for us. Our families deserve it. Our children demand it. The peace of the planet depends upon it."
