The Reds will be unveiling a new statue at Great American Ball Park later this year in honor of Hall-of-Fame Second Baseman Joe Morgan.  Sculptor Tom Tsuchiya  is putting the finishing touches on it this week at his studio.

If you've been to the ballpark, you're already familiar with Tsuchiya's work.  He created the statues of Ted Kluszewski, Frank Robinson, Ernie Lombardi, Joe Nuxhall and Johnny Bench.  He's also the artist for several statues at Xavier University, including the one of the Musketeer d'Artagnan, and the new Jesus statue at Solid Rock Church in Monroe.

With Opening Day on Monday, visitors to Great American Ball Park should also plan time to check out some of the new exhibits at the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum. HOF Executive Director Rick Walls is in the studio with Mark Heyne to talk about the autograph exhibition, and the salute to Joe Morgan display that will culminate in the unveiling of the Joe Morgan statue on Crosley Terrace later this season.

Last year The Cincinnati Reds won 97 games and were the National League Central Division champions. But the team went on to give up a two-game series lead in the playoffs to lose to the Giants.

A new exhibit looks at the career of a Reds player many baseball experts consider the best second baseman in the history of the game.  Reds Hall of Fame Executive Director Rick Walls said the  Joe Morgan exhibit that started Tuesday is part of a season-long celebration of his baseball career.

"I think it's an inspiring story because Joe was once deemed to small to play," said Walls.  "I think he carries a little chip on his shoulder with that and wants to prove people wrong.  He did it his entire career."

The Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and Museum's showcase exhibit for 2013 will feature a collection of autographs from more than 1,500 Red players - nearly every player who has worn the Reds uniform since 1920.

"Signature Reds: A Century of Reds Autographs" opens to the public at 10 a.m Saturday at the Hall of Fame and Museum at Great American Ball Park, 100 Joe Nuxhall Way.
