Cincinnati Music

Cincinnati acquires Jazz Hall of Fame

Mar 10, 2015

For those who appreciate music, recognizing the great artists who work so hard to create it is quite important. Musicians devote their lives to composing passion into impacting melodies that serve to move the soul. To recognize the artist for their work is to let them know we appreciate their gift, and thank them for sharing it. There are many award organizations that exist for this reason, such as the Grammys and Hard Rock, but those only begin to touch on the number of musicians who deserve our gratitude.

Washington Park has become a gathering place for the city, and that is even more true during the summer months, when something is happening almost all the time in the Over the Rhine park, from kickball to group yoga, the City Flea to the World Market. And music, Jazz to Bluegrass to R&B. Brittney Carden, communications officer with Cincinnati Center City Development Corporation (3CDC), and Jake Speed, of Jake Speed & The Freddies, clue us in to the many events going on at Washington Park this summer, along with some edification on the history and growing popularity of Bluegrass.

Provided, Cincy Fringe Festival

The Cincy Fringe Festival kicks off May 27, twelve days, 160 performances of 36 unique productions in10 different Over the Rhine locations. Fringe artists represent a variety of media including theatre, dance, music, poetry, visual art, and film, push the boundaries of the “norm” and experiment with style and content. Joining us to explore the 11nth anniversary Fringe Festival offerings are Unity Productions’ Jon Kovach, Nathan Singer and Regina Pugh from Performance Gallery, and Festival producer Eric Vosemeier.

As expected, CityBeat's 2014 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards resulted in an amazing evening of fun, great times and incredible music.  Covington's Madison Theater was packed with musicians, artists and supporters of the local music community.

1207 Returns to OTR

Dec 11, 2012

A new music venue is opening in OTR!

It is called "1207" - a throwback to the original venue from the 1990's.

Located just upstairs from Cincy by the Slice, Venomous Valdez - a regular friend of the show says it will be a "little room with an emphasis on Americana/Folk/Jazz/Blues/Indie Rock."

The "soft opening" will be this Thursday, December 13th.
