Downtown Cincinnati Incorporated has created an online database of public art that features the city's fountains, monuments, murals and architecture.  It's all the things that DCI says make the streets of downtown an outdoor gallery on view 24/7.

The website also includes itineraries for five walking tours with a focus on specific artworks, shops and eateries along each route:

One of Cincinnati’s most artistic and anticipated fund raising events is Secret ArtWorks, which helps support the youth apprentices who help bring all those ArtWorks murals to life. Co-Chairs Jared Queen and Marie Krulewitch-Brown join Jim Stump to preview this year’s Secret ArtWorks event.

New public art piece at convention center

Cincinnati’s Duke Energy Convention Center is about to receive a brand new public art installation, compliments of ArtWorks and local artist Brenda Tarbell. As Jane Durrell learns from the artist and ArtWorks apprentice Susan Romer, the piece is entitled Buds, Blossoms, Branches, Boughs for the Queen and is an homage to local flora. The piece will be officially dedicated on July 10.

ArtWorks is hiring artists and teenagers and putting up scaffolding in preparation for beginning work on ten murals.

The arts organization plans to hire at least 110 apprentices to work on the murals all around town.

If you've always wanted to own one of the pigs from the Big Pig Gig, your opportunity has arrived.  Eleven of the fiberglass pigs created for the event this summer go up for auction today. 

You can bid online at the ArtWorks website.  There will also be in-person bidding at The Center in the Mercantile Building in Cincinnati.  That'll be held November 16th, starting at 5 that afternoon. 

Bids start at $1500 with an "Own It Now" price of $15,000.  The proceeds will be used for ArtWorks 2013 programming.
