According to a new national report, the number of Ohio schools with graduation rates of sixty percent or less increased dramatically during the last decade. But the 2010 graduation rate district-wide for Cincinnati Public Schools increased to over eighty-one percent.

Nationally, only seven in ten students complete high school. While many students have the will to graduate, they often don't have the necessary support. But research shows having a mentor increases a young person's chances of success.

As part of this initiative, Mark Perzel speaks with Greg Landsman, Executive Director of The Strive Partnership, which works with the Cincinnati, Covington, and Newport school districts and is spearheading the regional Campaign for Early Grade-Level Reading. Landsman explains why it's so important to help children with their reading before they finish third grade, and how Strive is helping.
