The first presidential campaign television commercial ran in 1952, during the race between Dwight Eisenhower and Adlai Stevenson. TV political advertising has changed dramatically since then, and evolved into a mix of part art, part science. 

  The Super Bowl is this Sunday, and there is almost as much pre-game hype about what will take place off the field, the commercials.  This year companies will spend a record $4.5 million for 30 seconds of air time.

  By the year 2015, those aged 50 and older will represent 45% of the U.S. population, and this baby boom generation, more than 78 million strong., has an annual income in excess of $2.3 trillion.
