The Commission on Presidential Debates says the debate will be Monday, Sept. 26, 2016 at the Nutter Center.

The Ohio Republican Party has endorsed two Hamilton County judges – Patrick DeWine and Patrick Fischer – for two seats on the Ohio Supreme Court that will be open next year.

Fischer and DeWine  - both members of the Ohio 1st District Court of Appeals - will be running for the seats of incumbent Republicans Judith Ann Lanzinger and Paul Pfeifer, who can’t run for re-election because of Ohio’s judicial age limit law.

The Ohio Republican Party has also endorsed the court’s chief justice, Maureen O’Connor, for re-election.

The Hamilton County Board of Elections Monday morning rejected a challenge to the wording of a Cincinnati charter amendment that would create a one mill tax for city parks.

The city of Cincinnati’s 24-member Charter Review Task Force, given the task of studying the city’s ancient charter and recommending changes, labored for 18 months doing exactly what they were asked to do.

But, as the old saying goes, they labored mightily, and brought forth a mouse.

WVXU politics reporter Howard Wilkinson talked with news director Maryanne Zeleznik Monday morning about where things stand with Ohio Gov. John Kasich's bid for the GOP presidential nomination and the Kentucky GOP creating a presidential caucus so GOP presidential contender Rand Paul can be on the primary ballot as a candidate for re-election to the Senate next year.

August has not been kind to Rand Paul, Kentucky’s junior senator and one of 17 contenders for the Republican presidential nomination.

In fact, August has been downright rude to Paul.

Not much has gone right for Paul lately.

Ohio will obviously be a key state in next year's presidential election, but it will also have a key role to play in the battle for control of the U.S. Senate. WVXU politics reporter Howard Wilkinson talked Monday morning with news director Maryanne Zeleznik about that already contentious race.

We don’t know about your family, but, at our house, when Thanksgiving came around, there were two tables set up for the family feast.

One for the grown-ups – the big fancy table. Another off to the side – usually a card table with a tablecloth thrown over it – for the kiddies.

It was OK, except the mashed potatoes tended to get cold by the time they made it to the card table.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is six days into his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination. How's he doing so far? WVXU politics reporter Howard Wilkinson talked with news director Maryanne Zeleznik about it Monday morning.
