2013 Cincinnati International Wine Festival

Starting March 7, the annual Cincinnati International Wine Festival will begin three days of tastings, wine dinners, auctions and grand tastings at the Duke Energy Convention Center. This year’s Honorary Chairman is Donald Patz, founder of Patz and Hall, one of California’s premier single vineyard wineries. Mr. Patz spends a few minutes before coming to town to talk with Mark Perzel about his winery, the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir wines they specialize in, and being part of the Cincinnati International Wine Festival.

"The Myth of the Perfect Girl"

News Director Maryanne Zeleznik, proud mother of a young girl, spoke recently with Ana Homayoun, author of the recently released book The Myth of the Perfect Girl: Helping Our Daughters Find Authentic Success and Happiness in School and Life. The book makes the case that in our achievement driven, success at any cost lifestyle, even for junior high and high school girls, that the stresses of being the best, or seen as the best, is costing them to lose sight of their true identity. As author Susan Shapiro said of the book, "A smart, funny and engaging study on how to give girls the tools to figure out what they really want - and how to get it.  A must-read for girls, mothers, educators and anybody who wants to understand half the population."

The Cincinnati Rollergirls - 2013 Season Preview

It’s almost time for more bouts, pivots, jammers and blockers. The Cincinnati Rollergirls, stars of the flat track roller derby world, kick off their 2013 home season on March 23 at the historic Cincinnati Gardens. The Front Row with Betsy Ross welcomes in a couple of the Rollergirls to preview the upcoming season, talk a bit about the team and the sport, and how their fan base has grown over the years.

New Cincinnati casino leads to neighborhood improvements

New lights and trees line the streets in Cincinnati's Pendleton neighborhood.

Many people have watched as the Broadway Commons was transformed from a parking lot into a $400 million casino complex that is planning to open its doors to the public next Monday.

What they may not have noticed is that the casino project has transformed the long-neglected neighborhood of Pendleton, just across Reading Road from Horseshoe Casino.
