Did you know that one of the country’s leading experts in social media marketing is located right here in Cincinnati? Her name is Krista Neher and after a successful career at P&G, she moved to a start-up company that raised the inevitable question: how do I do more, with less? As she mastered social media opportunities, she opened Boot Camp Digital and wrote the Social Media Field Guide. That was followed by Social Media Marketing: A Strategic Approach and now her newest book, Visual Social Media Marketing. She is in the studio with Mark Perzel to talk about successfully using social media, even as the options grow more and more numerous.

Ending Poaching in Africa

Thane Maynard is on the phone with Pratik Patel, founder of Safari Legacy and of the African Wildlife Trust in Tanzania. The AWT is working diligently to fight the epidemic of poaching of the majestic African elephants. Their efforts include not only the poachers themselves, but the businesses and individuals who reward poachers by purchasing the ivory they illegally gain by killing the elephants.

Xavier University’s College of Social Sciences, Health, & Education presents the Remarkable Families Symposium on Friday, March 1 at the Cintas Center. This program is for parents of special needs children, and will provide them with critical information to aid them in the challenges they face both now and in the future with their children. Paul Daugherty, columnist for the Cincinnati Enquirer and parent of a special needs daughter (the subject of his upcoming book) is the guest speaker. Mark Perzel learns more about the event, the agenda for the day, and how parents can register during a conversation with one of the key organizers, Dr. Thomas Knestrict from Xavier.

Oscar Predictions

Tonight is the one time of year when cinephiles all around the globe are glued to the tube. The 85th annual Academy Awards are being handed out, and every year, the producers of the show promise it will be better. Every year, the audience hopes it will be better. And maybe one of these days, it will be better. Will tonight be that night? We won’t know until it’s over. In the never-ending search for the perfect host, the academy is hoping that Seth McFarlane, creator of TV’s Family Guy, and writer / director of last year’s surprise hit movie Ted, will step up to the plate and hit a home run.
