Local man co-produces documentary about Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy

Local author Gary Williams has co-produced a moving documentary about the first American to receive the Medal of Honor for his service in Afghanistan. MURPH: The Protector tells the story of Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy who in 2005 gave his life for his men during a gun battle with the Taliban in the remote mountains of Eastern Afghanistan. Our film expert, Larry Thomas, talks with Gary Williams about his book about Murphy, Seal of Honor, and how he became involved in the documentary project.

In best-selling author Jennifer Chiaverini’s newest historical novel, Mrs. Lincoln’s Rival, she introduces readers to DC socialite Kate Chase Sprague who, as she tells our Kelly Blewett, was born and is buried in Cincinnati.

There will be a special exhibit of Jennifer Chiaverini's Elm Creek quilts at the 2014 Lebanon Quilt & Fabric Arts Show on March 7-9 at the Warren County History Center in Lebanon.

Their discussion ranges from a preview of events happening this weekend in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; some events happening in February including “The Frederick Douglass Story” from The Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati; and how he defines freedom and the role of the Underground Railroad in that.
