Wilberforce University names new board leadership

The nation's oldest historically black private university has a new board chairman. Wilberforce University near Dayton is tapping Mark Wilson to lead its Board of Trustees.

Wilson is the CEO of eVerifile.

John Miller will take over as vice chairman. He's currently the president and CEO of Denny's.

Wilberforce is in the process of hiring a new university president. A spokesperson says the search is ongoing.

Interim President Wilma Mishoe says she's confident in the new board leadership as the university continues to roll out its "Force of Change" strategy. That's an initiative launched in July to turn things around after the school was issued a "Show-Cause Order" from  the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools in June. That order stated the university may lose its accreditation due to sub-par academic programs, severe cuts to faculty and staff, a $9.7 million dollar deficit and low enrollment.
