"Tiki Man" is the new book from local author Thomas Atkinson

Local writer Dorothy Weil recently released her newest novel, Love and Terror, and she joins Barbara Gray in the studio to talk about this story as well as her own family, including the fact her father and grandfather were both steamboat captains.

ArtsWave announced today that Cincinnati author Leah Stewart will receive its 2014 Rosa F. and Samuel B. Sachs Fund Prize. The award, created to celebrate outstanding achievements in the arts, recognizes Stewart for her award-winning novels and contributions to Cincinnati's literary scene. 

Have you entered the Dooniverse yet? Local authors Carey Corp and Lorie Langdon have created a series of fantasy books, the Doon series, with the first novel, Doon, now available and the second, Destined for Doon, due out September 2. The authors are with Barbara Gray to discuss the series, the characters and plots, and a unique connection to a 1950’s era Broadway musical.

Local children’s author Michele Wright has created a series of four books based on the seasons in order to share the magic of nature with her young readers. As she tells our Kelly Blewett, most of the photos illustrating these books are local scenes including the Cincinnati Zoo, Miami Whitewater Forest and more.

  Western Female Seminary, which opened its doors in 1855, later became Western College for Women. The first college in the country to have an artist-in-residence, Western attracted national attention when it hosted civil rights training for Freedom Summer 1964. In 1974, the college became part of Miami University in Oxford.

Anderson Township author and playwright Thomas Atkinson recently came in our studio to talk with Rick Pender about how his newest play, Battling the Ghost of Max Schmelling, was selected by the FUSION Theatre Co. of New Mexico to be showcased in their recently completed New Works Festival.
