Shrewdness of Apes presents: Shoebox

Local artists Hilary Nauman and Michael Boyd began exhibiting their work in pop-up shops, outdoor markets and at The City Flea.  The free-form spontaneity of this kind of exhibition has carried over and has led them to open Shrewdness of Apes - an art gallery that is different from what you might be used to.

SoA, located on 7th Street in downtown Covington, focuses on contemporary and emerging artists and exhibits that are not only unusual, but invite entries from anyone with an interest in creating something unique, special and out of the ordinary.

Their newest exhibit, shoebox, showcases a wide variety of original work that adheres to only one simple rule -- the pieces must fit inside a standard-size shoe box (7"x5"x14").

The call-to-artists for shoebox was put out in January with submissions open to absolutely everyone.  Since then dozens of examples of small-scale creativity have been scrutinized, analyzed, enjoyed and finally placed on exhibit inside the SoA space for the gallery opening on March 14th.

Later this Spring SoA will also be featuring a Rock-n-Roll exhibit, and one called <16 , which brings together some of the best pieces from artists under the age of 16.
