Section of Northern Kentucky highway being named for local country music legend

Provided/Kentucky Transportation Cabinet

Boone County native and country music entertainer Kenny Price is being honored Saturday when a section of US 42, from I-75 to KY 237, will be dedicated in his name--The Kenny Price Memorial Highway.

The Florence native was a singer, songwriter and actor nicknamed the "Round Mound of Sound" (Price weighed close to 300 pounds for most of his career).  He charted 34 singles between 1966 and 1980, including "The Sheriff of Boone County," a top-ten song on the charts in 1970.

Price also appeared on the shows "Midwestern Hayride" and "Hee Haw."  He died in 1987.

In June, he was one of the inaugural inductees of the Northern Kentucky Music Legends Hall of Fame

The dedication is Saturday morning at 9:30 at the White Castle on US 42 in Florence.
