NKY hazardous waste drop off Saturday

Northern Kentucky residents can drop off household hazardous waste items at a collection event Saturday in Florence.

It takes places from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at UC Health Center (former Freedom Center) at 58 Cavelier Blvd.

The drop off is for residents of Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties.  Participants must print off a registration form for the event.  

“It gives people an opportunity to get rid of stuff the safe way and at no cost to the residents,” said Roger Wells in a statement.  Wells is the Director of Solid Waste Management, Kenton County.

Only the following items will be accepted:

  • Aerosol cans
  • Antifreeze
  • Batteries (all types)
  • Corrosives
  • Flammables
  • E-scraps (computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, cell phones)
  • Ink/toner cartridges
  • Light bulbs
  • Motor oil
  • Pesticides
  • Propane tanks (20 lbs. only)
  • Televisions
  • Documents for paper shredding
  • Paint

The drop off is annual and always takes place at the end of the summer/beginning of the fall season.
