Lane markings warn drivers about parked cars

City of Cincinnati

Cincinnati is adding markers to Central Parkway warning drivers they may be in a parking lane. When the city added protected bike lanes, parking lanes were moved further into the street, causing some confusion for drivers about whether a lane is for driving or parking.

From the city:

The 6-foot long markings say, “CAUTION PARKED CARS.” ?Road crews are installing the markings on Central Parkway between Liberty Street and Brighton Place, where on-street parking is allowed all day except 7 to 9 a.m. in southbound lanes and 4 to 6 p.m. in northbound lanes. Outside of rush hours, through motorists are encouraged to use the left-most lane, as cars may be parked in the lane adjacent to the protected bicycle lane. The pavement markings complement the existing red and white parking signs that show when and where parking is allowed. Protected bicycle lanes were installed in the area in August 2014. The parking lane was moved away from the curb at that time.
