KY auditor to review CVG board

Kentucky's auditor says he'll take a close look at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport Board after media reports raised concerns about travel and spending.

Auditor Adam Edelen says, "We are going to be reviewing every expenditure made by the airport board. We're going to get to the nub of the issue, which is 'Is the questionable spending on things like travel a consistent theme through every expenditure stream at the airport?' I don't have an answer for that but I will."

Edelen says he wants to make sure CVG is running as effectively, honestly and wisely as it can to make sure consumers and taxpayers get the return on investment they should expect.

"Given how important CVG is; given the amount of money that goes into this; given the roll that it plays in the economic development of the region; certainly the troubling spending that we've seen {and the} dysfunction on the board merits a far larger review and as the taxpayer watchdog, that's what we're going to do."

In the past year and a half the auditor's office has conducted several Northern Kentucky special examinations including the City of Covington where there is an investigation of alleged embezzlement by the former finance director.
