Artist rendering of the new Tropical Plunge attraction coming to Kings Island in 2016.

The big secret is out. Kings Island is adding a seven-story, six-slide water slide to its Soak City Waterpark. The 65-foot tall Tropical Plunge will include three slides that starts with riders standing in a chamber waiting for the floor to open up beneath them. They'll then free-fall "through a series of flat loops and S-curves in a translucent flume."

By next summer, Kings Island says this grassy field will be transformed into a seven-story, 6-slide water slide.

Tropical Plunge will expand the waterpark to 35 acres. It will be built in what is currently a grassy field bordering the employee parking area and the sand volleyball courts. Construction will begin this fall and the attraction is slated to open by Memorial Day 2016.

Two other waterparks have similar attractions, Dorney Park in Allentown, PA and Kings Dominion in Virginia.

Kings Island says, "Tropical Plunge also features a slide that will send riders twisting and spiraling through an enclosed chute featuring four intense 360-degree loops across 449 feet of slide before they’re released out into a pool of water and dueling 337-foot long tube slides that zip riders through an enchanting series of drops and turns."

A rendering of the new "toll" plaza.

When the park closes for the summer, work will begin removing the current two "toll" plazas where visitors pay for parking. They'll be replaced with one "grand plaza area on the far north end of the parking lot."

General Manager Greg Scheid says the theme park is working with the City of Mason to improve traffic efficiency into and out of the parking lot, and along Kings Island Drive, which will become a divided boulevard. Traffic will now enter through one entrance and move through the 13-land 'toll' plaza.

Gold and platinum season pass members will be able to use dedicated, automated lanes.
