The jury is set in the retrial of former University of Cincinnati police officer Ray Tensing in the shooting death of Sam DuBose during a 2015 traffic stop.
The jury consists of seven white women, two African-American women, two white men, and one African-American man. The four alternates include two white men, one white woman, and one African-American woman.
By comparison, the first trial jury consisted of six white women, four white men, and two African-American women.
Jurors range in occupations from healthcare professionals, information technology, and sales, to a nanny, and a PhD who does animal research. One juror has a son in law enforcement, another was in the military, and another is a musician. Many, but not all, say they have previously seen at least parts the body camera video from the incident.
Jurors left to visit the scene of the shooting shortly after being sworn in.
Opening statements are currently scheduled for Thursday morning. Following that, the prosecution will begin calling witnesses.
Judge Leslie Ghiz expects the prosecution will call UC police officers Lt. Tim Barge, Philip Kidd and David Lindenschmidt, and a civilian witness. That civilian witness is likely Alicia Napier, a woman who was getting into her car with her children at the time of the incident.
