Hitchhiking by plane

provided

If you had the time you might like to do what Amber Nolan is doing. She is coming to small airports like Lunken and bumming rides from pilots to see all 50 states. It's a concept she dubbed Jet-Hiking.

"I'm a travel writer and this year I wanted to take some time off and see the United States and blog about it and see our country and I thought it would be a unique and different way to do it if I went by air."

The 28 year old Nolan is attempting to visit all 50 states on a shoestring budget. Just last month she flew to her 12th state, Oregon.

Some people might wonder if they could do something like this and how difficult it would be.

"This is one of the most challenging, let me rephrase this. This is the most challenging thing I've ever done. Lining up rides takes a lot of research, a lot of online time, a lot of networking, really coming up with creative ways. I have to go to the airport sometimes and chat with people."

Nolan says it takes about a year to line it all up. A 13 week TV series about it is in the works.

She is also blogging.
