The American Can Company Building in Northside, built in 1921, sat for years, vacant or nearly vacant, subject to decay and vandalism. But the building, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, has undergone a complete transformation over the last decade, and now houses apartments and commercial space.
Here to discuss the history and revitalization of the building are Mary Kroner, co-owner of Ruth’s Parkside Café, located in the American Can Company Building; and, Dan Hurley, local historian, host and producer of Newsmakers on Local 12 WKRC, and director of Leadership Cincinnati with the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber.
Ruth’s Parkside Café is hosting an American Can Factory Reunion Sunday September 27, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm. For information, contact Mary or David at Ruth’s Parkside Café at 513-542-7884, email info@ruthscafe.com or visit: www.ruthscafe.com.
