Hamilton County Park District needs help for annual bird audit

Great Parks of Hamilton County

Hamilton County Parks is looking for volunteers for its Winter Bird Count on Saturday, December 14, from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The park district says keeping a running count of native birds is critical to monitoring environmental trends in the parks. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their binoculars, bundle up and head out to help for the whole or just part of the day. At 4:15 p.m., find out the grand tally of all the parks at Winton Woods’ Winton Centre.

At each location, participants will search the park in a group led by a parks volunteer or staff member. No experience is needed to join in this free  event, but registration is required by December 12.

You can get more information or to register by phone, call the Naturalist Office at 513-521-7275, ext. 240, or  you can visit greatparks.org/events/winter-bird-count.

A valid Great Parks of Hamilton County Motor Vehicle Permit ($10 annual; $3 daily) is required to enter the parks. Armleder and Fernbank Parks are cooperative ventures with the Cincinnati Park Board; a Motor Vehicle Permit is not required.
