Documenting the Devastation of Alzheimer's

Alzheimer's is a devastating disease with no known cure. It slowly steals a person's intellect, ability to communicate, independence, and dignity, and now affects more than five million Americans. We look at what we know about Alzheimer’s disease, with Miami UniversityDepartment of Sociology & Gerontology Assistant Professor Dr. Kate de Medeiros and Professor Dr. Jennifer M. Kinney. Dr. de Medeiros and Dr. Kinney are also both Research Fellows at the Scripps Gerontology Center at MU. Also joining us is Film Maker Scott Kirschenbaum, his groundbreaking documentary, You’re Looking at Me Like I Live Here and I Don’t, was filmed entirely in an Alzheimer’s care unit, told from the perspective of an Alzheimer’s patient.

Scott Kirschenbaum will be in Cincinnati April 29 for a free public screening ofYou’re Looking at Meat Miami University’s Voice of America Learning Center, followed by a panel discussion on Alzheimer’s. The screening and discussion are presented by the Cedar Village Retirement Community and Miami University. RSVPs are requested by contacting Sally Korkin of Cedar Village at skorkin@cedarvillage.org or 513-336-3140.
