Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said Friday work continues on making changes to the city manager's proposed two-year budget.
Cranley said he has reviewed the motion released Wednesday and negotiations are underway.
“We’ll have a compromise introduced on Monday,” Cranley said. “Whether it gets voted on next week or not is up to the chairman of the budget committee.”
The proposal earlier this week essentially changed the plan five Council Democrats introduced Monday with a few tweaks to win Council Member Charlie Winburn's support.
Cranley said all ideas for additional spending would be nice.
“If money grew on trees, but it doesn’t,” Cranley said. “I’m willing to support some of those spending items as long as they come with cuts elsewhere in the budget.”
Cincinnati Council's Budget and Finance Committee is scheduled to meet again Monday morning to continue budget discussions.
