CPR and Automated External Defibrillators

Sudden cardiac arrest is one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., and about 92 percent of cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital. But statistics prove immediate CPR and use of  an automated external defibrillator, or AED, could save thousands of lives each year. Lt. Mark Sanders with the Cincinnati Fire Department, and Mike Kappa, retired district chief and current CPR/AED instructor with the fire department, explain the need and proper use of AEDs.
