Common Core Education Standards

Proponents of the Common Core initiative now adopted by forty-five  states say it raises teaching standards and expectations of student college readiness. But critics claim Common Core is a federal takeover of local education, and will actually lower standards in some schools. Xavier University School of Education Associate Professor, Dr. Debora Kuchey, Boone County Schools Deputy Superintendent and Chief Academic Officer, Karen Cheser, and Lakota Local School District  Academic Officer of Data Assessment and Core Instruction, Patty Fong, discuss the new standards and what they mean for tri-state students.
