Cincinnati's ArtWorks puts youth to work creating murals and more around the region

Founded in 1996, ArtWorks is an award-winning non-profit organization that employs and trains local youth and talent to create art and community impact. The most visibleArtWorks projects are the many murals that brighten-up our region. Since the mural program was launched in partnership with the City of Cincinnati in 2007, ArtWorks has hired area youth to paint 68 murals. And after this summer, the total count will be 75 murals located in 36 Cincinnati neighborhoods. Here to talk about the murals, and their many other projects, are Christine Carli, ArtWorks communications manager, and Katrina Jones, an ArtWorks youth apprentice.

Maryanne Zeleznik is responsible for all news and public affairs programming at WVXU. She also hosts Morning Edition Monday through Friday.
