Cincinnati Police Drawing Line In The Sand

Police say they are seeing a rise in violent crime on the streets of Cincinnati and because of that are taking aggressive, but focused measures to combat it.

Friday began with the arrest of 13 people on Cincinnati's West Side. After a 2:00 news conference there were still another 13 left to go, according to District Three Commander Dan Gerard who is working with CIRV, the Cincinnati Initiative to Reduce Violence.

He says, "Under the CIRV mantra we promise you that when a body hits the ground we will marshal resources of law enforcement in this area not just against the shooters but against the running buddies as well."

In the past week five people were shot near the intersection of Baltimore and McHenry in Westwood. A targeted police effort hopes to put an end to the violence, but Assistant Chief Jim Whalen says other neighborhoods are next.

  2. Winton Terrace
  3. West End

Police say they are targeting the criminals who would make the summer get off to a bad start.
