Cincinnati will soon have a new assistant city manager. Sheila Hall-Christian will be starting the job May 18.
She comes to the city from Portland, Maine, where she is currently the acting city manager and chief executive officer.
City Manager Harry Black made the announcement Wednesday in a memo to Mayor John Cranley and council members.
"I've known Sheila for several years," Black said. "I've always been quite impressed with her competency. She is a consummate professional, has high character and is an impact player. She will be able to hit the ground running and become a very valuable member of this team."
In Portland, she is responsible for the oversight and management of an operating budget of about $220 million.
Hall-Christian spent most of her professional career working in Richmond, Virginia, in various public service jobs.
She replaces Bill Moller who left the city last month for a position with the Uptown Consortium.
