Cincinnati delivering more trash carts this month

The City of Cincinnati is beginning the second phase of a program to deliver new trash carts to city residents.

Households that have their trash collected on Tuesdays will be getting carts throughout May.

The city said in a press release the neighborhoods of Bond Hill, Carthage, Hartwell, Kennedy Heights, Madisonville, North Avondale, Paddock Hills, Roselawn, and parts of Avondale, Evanston and Oakley will be receiving 65-gallon carts this month.

So far the city has already delivered nearly 18,000 carts.  Single-family homes and multi-family homes with up to four units will receive the containers throughout the summer.

During June, residents with Wednesday trash collection will be getting new carts.  Thursday collection will be distributed in July and those with Friday pick-up will be getting new containers in August.

Each eligible household will receive only one cart, and residents are asked to try it for two weeks before requesting to swap for another size.

The carts have wheels and an attached lid.  They also have a metal lift bar, which allows the city to move to semi-automated trash collection.
