Cincinnati is considering outsourcing its parking operations. The city is putting out a call for proposals to manage and maintain city garages, lots and meters.
Spokeswoman Meg Olberding says an outside operator should produce savings.
"For example, a third party could invest in technology across the entire system more efficiently. They could assume some of the maintenance and facility upgrades to the system. And they could probably conduct the enforcement and have more resources to bill for tickets," she says.
Olberding says the city has spoken with its parking unions and will ensure city workers will get priority consideration for jobs under a new operator.
