The BuyCincy Holiday Event

Like it or not, the holiday shopping season is almost upon us, and I doubt that anyone hates malls more than I do.

Fortunately, the BuyCincy Holiday Event (previously "Cincinnati Unchained") promotes the benefits of shopping locally while bringing holiday traffic to locally-owned, independent businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Businesses from all over the area, including Bellevue, Newport, Covington, Clifton /University Heights, College Hill, Montgomery, Newport, Northside, Norwood, Oakley, O’Bryonville, Downtown and Over-the-Rhine will be participating and offering a wide variety of items for anyone's holiday shopping list.

"When you shop at an independent (business), you'll have... up to 3.5 times the economic impact than you would if you shop at a chain."

To put it simply, from Thursday, November 21st to Sunday, November 24th, when you visit a participating business, not only will you help local businesses and communities thrive during the holiday season,  you will earn chances to win your share of prizes.

More chances to win can be earned when you use the hashtag #buycincy on Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, and Twitter.

I met with Owen Raisch from the Greater Cincinnati Independent Business Alliance (GCiNBA) to find out more.

For a complete list of participating retailers, visit the BuyCincy Holiday Event web site.
