Bus nightmare at RNC won't happen again, Ohio chairman says
Thousands of delegates - including hundreds from Ohio - were stranded for hours after last night's session because of the shuttle bus system set up by the Republican National Committee.
Ohio GOP chairman Bob Bennett told the delegates at this morning's delegation breakfast that it won't happen again.
"We've got (Republican National Committee chairman) Reince Priebus with us this morning and I know a lot of you are going to want to give him an earful, but don't, because we are going to talk, and we will take care of it,'' Bennett said.
Last night, delegates loaded onto hundreds of buses surrounding the Tampa Bay Times Forum and were taken to a second site, the parking lot of the Raymond James Stadium, where they had to load onto second buses to take them to their hotels.
Many missed buses and were stranded for hours, not arriving back at their hotels until the wee hours of this morning.
After tonight's session, Gov. John Kasich is hosting a boat cruise around Tampa Bay that runs from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m. Bennett said buses will be dedicated to Ohio delegates only and take them back to the hotel, either after the cruise or immediately after the session ends.
