The Blues: 2/8/14 show
This Saturday night, February 8th at 11pm, you'll hear music from three groups who'll be appearing in the Cincinnati area soon. The first is Tommy Castro & the Painkillers who'll be at the Redmoor in Mt. Lookout Square on Tuesday night, February 11th. Then the next night, on Wednesday, February 12th, one of my favorite groups, Galactic, will be on stage at the 20th Century in Oakley. I've seen them a number of times at the New Orleans Jazz Fest. But my favorite show was when they opened for Isaac Hayes at Tipitina's one night. I think their set started at midnight. Amazing time. And the final concert is by the Blind Boys of Alabama. They're scheduled to play NKU’s Greaves Concert Hall in Highland Heights, Kentucky, on Friday, March 21st.
Other musicians you'll hear on the 2/8 blues show include the Honey Island Swamp Band, Janis Joplin, and Koko Taylor. A smorgasbord of music....
I also wanted to mention that Bryan Dykstra, emeritus professor of music at the College of Wooster (Ohio) sent us a great cd, "Ragtime Classics, 1901-1919," and you'll hear a song from that, too.
