Author Denise Kiernan tells a little known story from WWII

The Girls of Atomic City is a fascinating fact-based novel about the women who unknowingly built the atomic bomb while working in the small town of Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Author Denise Kiernan was recently in Cincinnati and came by our studio to talk with Lee Hay about these women and this little known part of WWII history.

SPECIAL WEB EXCLUSIVE:

Lee Hay told her mother, Jacklyn Hay, about reading this book and learned from her that she had lived with her parents and brother in Oak Ridge when it was  being built.  Stories that she hadn't heard before, so she asked her mother to come into the studio and share her experience.  You'll find the audio here to listen to.
