Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Hands-free technology doesn't make driving safer, study finds

Hands-free is not risk free. That's the message from AAA.

The auto club is releasing what it calls a groundbreaking study on distracted driving. AAA along with the University of Utah found voice-activated, hands-free technologies on cell phones and in cars pose the greatest risks for distracted driving accidents.

“The risk is extensive,” says AAA spokesperson Cheryl Parker. “If you have these voice activated, in-car technologies, don’t use them unless you’re safely parked.”

Cincinnati Children's earns top ranking

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center is getting high praise.  It ranks third overall in the U.S. News and World Report's 2013 Best Children's Hospitals ranking.  And for the first time, Cincinnati Children's was ranked number one for pediatric cancer care.

Port Authority looking to expand coverage to boost marketing

This map shows the desired expansion area for the proposed Cincinnati Tri-State Port District. The region would run from river mile 357 to the east to river mile 555.

The Port of Greater Cincinnati Development Authority (Port Authority) is looking to give the region a bigger edge when it comes to marketing business along the Ohio River.

Right now the Port covers 26 miles. It's looking to expand those boundaries to 205 miles by enlisting 18 counties from Scioto County, Ohio and Greenup County, Kentucky to the East and Jefferson County, Indiana to the west.

Port CEO Laura Brunner says an expanded Cincinnati Tri-State Port District would benefit everyone.

Metro launching plan to boost ridership in Uptown

Metro is rolling out its new Plus service and Uptown Transit District plan around UC and the hospital campuses.

Four new boarding shelters are being installed. They'll feature LED displays with real-time information.

The district will also serve as a transfer point for nine routes rather than going through the main hub downtown.

President and CEO of the Uptown Consortium Beth Robinson says the newly created Uptown Transit District is important for easing congestion.
