Tana Weingartner earned a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in mass communication from Miami University. Most recently, she served as news and public affairs producer with WMUB-FM. Ms. Weingartner has earned numerous awards for her reporting, including several Best Reporter awards from the Associated Press and the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists. She served on the Ohio Associated Press Broadcasters Board of Directors from 2007 - 2009.

Public memorial Sunday for William L. Mallory Sr.

A public memorial service honoring the late William L. Mallory Senior is set for Sunday Dec. 22 at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

The Cincinnati Democrat and former Ohio House Majority Floor Leader died earlier this week.

The service is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

Dayton-based airline adding 900 jobs

Vandalia-based PSA Airlines will soon be in the market for hundreds of new employees. President Keith Houk says the regional carrier is adding more than 900 jobs in Dayton, Akron, Charlotte and Knoxville.

Positions include pilots, flight attendants and other maintenance and support staff.

PSA has been in the Dayton region for 25 years. As a wholly owned subsidiary of US Airways it operates under the name US Airways Express. Eventually that will change to American Eagle as the US Airways, American Airlines merger progresses.

Health Care Access Now gets $600,000 grant

A non-profit agency that helps low-income people get health care and providers get paid is getting a financial boost.

CEO Judith Warren says Health Care Access Now will use a $600,000 grant from the Deaconess Associations Foundation to add staff and expand services. "We're looking to serve an additional 4,500 people," says Warren. The agency currently serves about 1,800 people per year.

Miami U and Cincy to host 2016 NCAA hockey tourney

Cincinnati and Miami University will host the 2016 NCAA Division One Men's Ice Hockey MidWest Regional. The 2014 MidWest Regional is also being held in Cincinnati.

The Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber expects the two-day tournament will generate more than 850 hotel room nights.

Games will be played at US Bank Arena.

Sewer rates to increase 6 percent

Like water rates, sewer rates in Hamilton County are increasing.

County Commissioners approved the Metropolitan Sewer District's 2014 budget, which includes a six percent rate hike. MSD is undergoing a massive multi-billion dollar system overhaul required by a federal consent decree.

MSD had asked for a $226.7 million operating budget but the county's new utility oversight director, Dave Meyer, says the sewer district can get by with $210.7 million. Commissioners chose to follow Meyer's recommendation.
