Mitch Felan

Mitch Felan is a news intern for WKSU. He is a multimedia journalist with experience in print, television, radio and visual journalism. Felan is a junior at Kent State University, working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Multimedia Journalism. During the school year, Felan works for Kent State Student Media in TV2, The Kent Stater, and KentWired. He will be serving as the Digital Director for Kent State University's Student Media Newsroom in the Fall.  

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is joining the chorus of voices opposing a Trump immigration policy separating immigrant families at the United States border. Speaking on MSNBC Monday, Kasich blasted the practice.

“Think about this. Think about the fact that in our country, children, young children are being separated from their mothers and fathers. Could you imagine the terrifying effect on these kids?” he said.

A historic Stark County house that was once on the Underground Railroad is up for sale. The property was built in the mid-1800’s and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Gloria Schreiber with the Marlboro Township Historical Society says her group hopes to buy the house and use it for educational purposes.

Animal advocates are applauding the state’s decision to postpone a proposed trapping season for bobcats. The state Wildlife Council voted 6-1 Thursday to put the proposal on an indefinite hold.

Corey Roscoe with the U.S. Humane Society applauds the decision. She says the science does not back up harvesting bobcats.
