Heyne's journalism experience in Greater Cincinnati spans more than 20 years and includes positions with WLW, WHIO, WMOH and Traffic Watch/News Watch. He has received awards from the Ohio Associated Press, Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, The Press Club of Ohio, and the Cincinnati Society of Professional Journalists.

Cincinnati dedicates new garden at Smale Riverfront Park

The Duke Energy Garden is the newest addition to Smale Riverfront Park.

Not only does the  Duke Energy Garden offer lush gardens, large trees, walking paths and granite seat walls, it has a great view of the Ohio River and Kentucky shoreline, which you can enjoy from family-sized porch swings.  Dianne and David Rosenberg gave $250,000 to the Cincinnati Parks Foundation and Cincinnati Park Board to provide significant funding for the swings.

The new garden is located adjacent to, and east of, the park's Main Street Fountain and Plaza.

Cincinnati adds safety tracking for bicyclists

Local bicyclists now have an easier way to report harassment and collisions.  Cincinnati has added a "Bicyclist Incident" form on its customer service website, 5916000.com.  It's also on the city's mobile app, Cincinnati City Hall Mobile, which is GPS-enabled so cyclists can accurately report their location.  (The app is available through Apple's App Store and Google Play.)

Wanted: Ohio's oldest functioning refrigerator or freezer

That old fridge sitting in the basement or garage might yield a decent bounty.

They've kicked off Ohio's Oldest Refrigerator contest and say they'll pay a $1,250 prize for the state's most ancient fridge or freezer.

Horseshoe flips the switch on new sign
