Boehner talks about economy during visit to Butler County company

House Speaker John Boehner told about 60 Vinylmax employees the economy is limping along and could be doing a lot better.

House Speaker John Boehner says the sooner the government starts addressing its fiscal problems, the sooner the economy will begin to improve.  Boehner spoke with employees of Vinylmax, a window manufacturer in Hamilton, during a tour of the company's plant Monday. 

He says investors and business people around the country are looking for some certainty about what Washington is going to do.

OKI asks for comments on updating bike map

The Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Regional Council of Governments wants to hear from people and groups who bicycle in Cincinnati as it begins updating its Bike Route Guide map.  OKI is asking for comments, ideas and questions about the current map. 

"It was last updated in 2010," said OKI Senior Planner Don Burrell.  "It's fairly popular with cyclists and gets distributed through our office and a number of bike shops."

There's a new sheriff in town

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Neil

Hamilton County's new sheriff was sworn into office at noon Friday, marking the first time in 39 years a Democrat has held the seat.  It also marked the first time in 25 years the Investiture Ceremony has been performed.

The ceremony for Jim Neil, who's been on the job since January 7, took place at the Hamilton County Courthouse.   Judges Nadine Allen, Melba Marsh, Jody Luebbers and Ralph Winkler presided over the public event held in Courtroom 340, which was filled to capacity.  Judge Allen administered the Oath of Office.

Dunnhumby breaks ground for new HQ

Groundbreaking ceremony for new dunnhumby headquarters at Fifth and Race in Cincinnati.

Employees of dunnhumbyUSA and community leaders gathered at the corner of Fifth and Race in Cincinnati Thursday morning for the groundbreaking ceremony for the company's four-story headquarters.

The $100 million development  will include a 1,000- space parking garage and 35,000 square feet of commercial space.

Horseshoe Cincinnati announces latest restaurant

Horseshoe Casino Cincinnati

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay is going to open his first Ohio restaurant inside Horseshoe Cincinnati when the casino opens March 4.  This will be the 14th Bobby's Burger Place.  The 3,500 square foot restaurant will be located adjacent to the gaming floor with seating for about 90 people.  

Bobby's Burger Place will join Jack Binion's Steak and Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville as premium dining outlets at the $400 million casino.

Flay opened his first BBP on Long Island in 2008.  He's also the owner and executive chef of Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay Steak and Bar Americain.
