Lee Hay

Announcer & Producer

Lee Hay has worked at all three Cincinnati Public Radio stations: WGUC in the mid-70's, WMUB in the late 70's, and WVXU since 1984. She is currently executive producer/host of the award-winning arts program Around Cincinnati Sunday evenings and The Blues on Saturday evenings. Her radio work has been awarded numerous awards including one from the Ohio Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, numerous Communicator Awards, Society of Professional Journalists and the Ohio Associated Broadcasters Association. Most recently she has received a Certificate of Merit from the Gabriel Awards for The Journey from Within; and recognition from the Ohio Associated Broadcasters Association for Cincinnati Baseball: Crosley Field (2011) and The Who Concert: 30 Years Later and Baseball: A Little Known Chapter (2010). Hay is also WVXU's music director and with her jazz background was the Cincinnati correspondent for downbeat magazine.

Blues Brews and BBQ

There's a great blues mini-festival coming to the PNC Pavilion on Saturday, September 8th.  You can hear songs from three of the groups - Delbert McClinton, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Little Feat on my Blues show, 11pm-midnight, September 1st on WVXU.

PNC Pavilion announced the first annual Blues, Brews and BBQ, a mini blues festival featuring Delbert McClinton, Little Feat, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band and The Villains on Saturday, September 8th .

Featuring a solo performance by author, playwright and punk pioneer Larry Kirwan from the Irish rock band Black 47. He reads from some of his literary works and performs some of his memorable tunes in a one-man show recorded by WVXU on February 4th at the Irish Heritage Center of Greater Cincinnati.

Lee Hay hosts a one-hour special featuring a profile of Ron Enyard, a review of Ernie Krivda’s latest cd “Blues for Pekar,” and a performance by the popular jazz group, the Faux Frenchmen.

Frank Johnson talks with jazz drummer Ron Enyard, who’s played with many legendary jazz musicians and includes stories of his jazz career and the jazz scene in Cincinnati. There will be songs from the many legendary jazz musicians he listened to over the years.
