Jay Hanselman

Reporter and Co-Host of Cincinnati Edition

Jay Hanselman brings more than 10 years experience as a news anchor and reporter to 91.7 WVXU. He came to WVXU from WNKU, where he hosted the local broadcast of All Things Considered.  Hanselman has been recognized for his reporting by the Kentucky AP Broadcasters Association, the Ohio Society of Professional Journalists, and the Ohio AP Broadcasters.

Hanselman covers Cincinnati City Hall for WVXU and co-hosts Cincinnati Edition on Thursday afternoons at 1:00 pm.

Council to vote on tax breaks for neighborhood projects

Cincinnati Council will vote Wednesday on plans to provide tax breaks for neighborhood projects in Walnut Hills and Linwood.  

The Walnut Hills project calls for adding 24 market rate rental units and two commercial spaces in buildings located on Walnut Street and East 15th Street.  

The developer said right now the structures are uninhabitable.  The total construction cost for this project is about $432,000.

Cincinnati will extend SORTA funding for another month

The ongoing dispute between Cincinnati and the Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority about the use of the city’s transit fund is still dragging on. 


Vice Mayor Roxanne Qualls spoke during a special Budget and Finance Committee meeting Tuesday.


"Members of the committee may remember that we passed a one-month budget for SORTA a number weeks ago," Qualls said.  "This is another one month budget for the period of February."


The city argues the fund can be used for any transit purpose.
