Dayton Children's Hospital to expand

Credit Dayton Children's Hosptial

Dayton Children's Hospital is outlining plans for a major expansion.

The hospital is adding an 8-story, 260,000 square-foot patient tower in the center of its current Valley Street Campus.

Estimated at $140 million, the facility will focus on pediatric cancer patients and critically-ill newborns.

Construction could begin early next year and be complete sometime in 2017.

Hamilton County monitoring potential impact of shutdown

Hamilton County's administrator says he's keeping an eye on how the federal shutdown may affect county programs. Sigman was asked about the the issue during Wednesday's county commission meeting by Commissioner Todd Portune.

Christian Sigman says agencies did a good job of communicating what would happen with grant funding for programs like food assistance.

Steve Stevens resigning as president of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

After nearly 20 years with the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, President Steve Stevens says he's leaving his job.

Stevens started at the chamber in 1994 to manage government affairs and serve as the Chamber's lobbyist in Frankfort.  He's been president for the past seven years. 

In a release, Stevens says the job's been rewarding to him, but says now is the time to pursue other professional endeavors.  He has not yet set a his departure date.

Get foreclosure help during phone-a-thon

Certified homeownership counselors will spend Wednesday answering phones and doling out help. Several agencies are coming together for a foreclosure prevention phone-a-thon.

Debbie Somerville is with Save the Dream Ohio, one of the agencies staffing the phone bank.

"Ohio is back up as one of the top five (states) in foreclosures in the nation," she says. "To put that in context, that's about one in 500 homes."

Port Authority releases details of parking lease
