Building a bigger YP population in Cincinnati; Bold Fusion


Cincinnati continues to grow its young professional population. Part of that comes from an annual event targeted to that group.


Bold Fusion, the region's largest gathering of young professionals, is a time to connect, discuss and learn. Efforts like this are being credited with attracting and retaining what the Cincinnati Chamber considers as a very important segment of the population. Natalie Nichols was at the Music Hall event. She moved here from Columbus because of the great web start up culture.

Riverfront development plan aims to connect Southbank cities

An 11-mile walking and biking trail is the centerpiece of a new economic development plan unveiled Thursday for Northern Kentucky's riverfront.  Southbank Partners President Jack Moreland says Riverfront Commons would link six cities from Fort Thomas to Ludlow as part of Imagination 2020.

He says the trail would use a series of intersections called nodes to connect with places in each community.

Cincinnati Fire Dept still dealing with brownouts

On any given day five Cincinnati fire trucks aren't in service because there's not enough personnel to man them.  That's what's called a brownout.  

Fire Chief Richard Braun told a Council committee this week the problem is only getting worse with an increasing number of retirements.

“One retirement can cause one brownout because our minimum staffing is four,” Braun said.  “So as soon as we drop down to three, then that piece of equipment is taken out of service.”

County considering sales tax increase

Hamilton County Commissioner Todd Portune is recommending a quarter cent sales tax increase to stabilize the stadium fund. His plan would also preserve the full property tax rebate promised to voters in the mid-90's.

The board is dealing with a $7 million gap. The proposal would increase the sales tax from 6.5% to 6.75%. Here's how Hamilton County's sales tax rate compares with Ohio's other 87 counties.
