Study projects much lower cost for new crime lab

New figures are in on how much it would cost to convert Mercy Mt. Airy hospital into a new crime lab for the coroner's office.

Hamilton County Coroner Lakshmi Sammarco says a new architectural study puts renovation costs at $21.5 million, well under the projected $56 million to build a new facility.

"The building is sound and it's a gift," says Sammarco. "I think we really need to look at it as this is going to be the most economical way for us to get a new crime lab."

Cincinnati State and UC officials sign agreement strengthing academic partnerhsips between the two institutions.

Portman, Kasich don't even register in NH primary poll

In a poll of voters in the early presidential primary state of New Hampshire, Ohio's junior senator Rob Portman and Ohio governor John Kasich don't even register one percent support among Republican primary voters.

Kentucky's junior senator, Rand Paul, tops the list of 13 potential GOP presidential contenders for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination with 17 percent, followed by New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie at 16 percent.

"Marriage equality crusader" -John Arthur dies

A terminally ill Cincinnati man, who traveled to Maryland to marry his partner, has died. John Arthur married Jim Obergefell in July on the tarmac because Arthur, who had ALS, was too sick to get off his stretcher.

Court case continues

Shortly after they married, the couple filed a federal lawsuit challenging Ohio's marriage law, in part so they could be buried together in Arthur's family plot.

Reds confirm Bryan Price as new manager

Update:

Bryan Price says this is a "huge moment" being named the new Reds manager. The first thing the former pitching coach says he will do is gain a better understanding and appreciation of where the team is now and where it wants to go. During a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Price did not announce any major changes with the team. He was asked about closer Aroldis Chapman will be converted to a starting pitcher.
