Lunken flood levee was not a "quiet" decision

A newspaper report last weekend suggested Cincinnati officials allowed the federal government to quietly decertify a flood levee protecting Lunken Airport and nearby homes and businesses without telling city council or the affected property owners.

But testimony from city officials and documents suggest the process was anything but quiet.  Council's Budget and Finance Committee heard about the Lunken flood levee during a meeting last Tuesday.

Kasich's State of the State speech: A campaign preview?

Monday night at the Medina Performing Arts Center, in front of the Ohio General Assembly, Ohio Gov. John Kasich will deliver his fourth State of the State address.

He is sincerely hoping it won’t be his last.

Unlike his previous State of the State messages, which Kasich has taken out of the Statehouse in Columbus and turned them into a traveling road show, this one will be in his re-election year.

This will be the year when the Republican governor, will be running for re-election to a second term.

Three CVG board members resign

Three members of the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) board have resigned.

Jim Huff, chairman of the Kenton County Airport Board, Larry Savage, vice chairman of the board, and airport board member Mark Arnzen submitted letters of resignation Friday to Kenton County Judge-Executive Steve Arlinghaus, effective immediately.

Bill Robinson, Kathy Collins and Chad Summe will replace each of them respectively.

Board of Elections will move to Mt. Airy after 2016 election

The Hamilton County Board of Elections will move to a new site in Mt. Airy after the 2016 election, thanks to a tie-breaking vote cast Friday by Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted.

On January 27, the Hamilton County Board of Elections split along party lines on whether to move to the former Mercy Mt. Airy Hospital site, recently acquired for free from Catholic Health Partners.

Cincy Police want to hear from you

How would you rate your interaction with the Cincinnati Police?

The department is sending out surveys asking people to rate officers following encounters ranging from traffic accidents to non-violent crimes.

The surveys are part of the National Police Research Platform's Police Community Interaction Survey on improving policing by the University of Illinois at Chicago's Center for Research in Law and Justice.

Lt. Debbie Bauer says Cincinnati is one of just 100 law enforcement agencies asked to participate.
